Las Vegas on the Silver Screen

Las Vegas is famous for The Strip, a long road with many of the largest casinos and resorts in the world. And while many visitors and tourists flock to Las Vegas in search of excitement and adventure, sometimes the closest you can get to the bright and glamorous world of The Strip is seeing on the big screen. Hollywood has often chosen the glitziest casinos and the best hotels in the city to become the backdrop for some of his best films. For over fifty years, the landmarks of Las Vegas have been immortalized in films ranging from comedies to thrillers - If you are exploring Las Vegas on foot or in a movie, there's something for everyone.

Ocean Eleven

If you watch the original 1960 movie starring Frank Sinatra, or the 2001 remake with George Clooney, you can see some of the casinos built in the best hotels in the city, and plans for the main character, Danny Ocean to steal their wealth. Both films are thrillers with style, with lots of twists and turns, notable for spending so much time depicting its characters as comfortably "at home" in the nightlife of Las Vegas, as they are preparing their plans developed. The remake eventually led to a series of sequels, but none really managed to capture the unique sense of energy of Las Vegas as the first did.

Hangover

One of the latest comedy to be filmed in Las Vegas, The Hangover has four friends who come to Las Vegas to celebrate an upcoming wedding. Waking up in one of the best hotels in the city, which find their suite in the chaos, a tiger in the bathroom, and a baby in the closet! They soon discover that they have no memory of the events of last night, leading to a comical journey through Las Vegas to determine exactly what happened. The film is also notable for a memorable cameo by the famous boxer Mike Tyson.

Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas

A cult movie based on the famous novel by Hunter S. Thompson, the film tells the illusions of a journalist dazed by drugs in his attempt to complete a task that involves a motorcycle race in the city. Although it was poorly received upon release, he went to pick up a huge underground following, mainly through the outrageous antics of the main character, Raoul Duke, an early role for the actor Johnny Depp. Despite a memorable scene takes place in a bathtub of a hotel, there are not many hotels in Las Vegas would be able to accommodate Duke for long.

Amazing Colossal Man

If you're feeling nostalgic, look no further than this science fiction film of 1957 black and white. After exposure to the explosion of a plutonium bomb, a U.S. Army officer miraculously survives and becomes a giant 60 feet tall. While the plot may require only a little suspension of disbelief, the film offers a vision of the past iconic Vegas', with some of the best hotels in the city during the 50 that appear on the screen (eg, San Souci El Rancho Vegas) before being inevitably destroyed by the rampaging giant.
