Malta's history dates back to 4500 BC, when the first settlers of nearby Sicily finally had the seagoing vessel to make the trip on the water. The atmosphere in the main room of the island have lived in natural caves that can be found along 300 km of Malta square land mass. Since the first settlement, the island has had a varied history and the earliest examples of the megalithic structure is in Malta. The ancient temples like Hagar Qim, Mnajdra, Tarxien, you can visit and pre-date the pyramids of ancient Egypt and England Stone Henge 1,000 years.
Malta has been part of the Phoenician empire of Carthage's history. When Carthage fell to the Romans to the island once again changed hands and sat under the rule of Rome during the Second Punic War (218 BC) and remained in Rome until the vandals attacked the island in 395. From then until the year 535, there are no records and one can only imagine the confusion of the island suffered over the years.
Fortunately, with Islam on the rise, Malta was relocated under a new and prosperous rule came under Arab occupation for centuries until the return of Malta brought Norman in the European family in 1091. The influence of the Arabs was much later in the culture of Malta and was Siculo-Arab (Arab Sicily) a language that evolved into the Maltese language. Norman government began a very productive period for Malta, the island officially became part of the Kingdom of Sicily, with the Catholic Church once again re-install as the state religion.
The Spanish also took part in the island, and reigned for some time until Napoleon conquered the island in 1798, bringing Malta under French rule. Finally in 1814 as part of the treaty of Paris, was the British Empire, which officially became the rulers of Malta, using the island as a shipping and quarters of the fleet of the head. It was not until 1964 that Malta finally gained independence and became a member of the United Nations in the same year. With an incredible diversity of history, as expected, the island is fascinating from a historical point of view. History is not Malta has to offer, known for its subtropical Mediterranean climate and its wonderful beaches, coves and bays of the island is a sun, sea and sand paradise holiday maker.
The capital of Malta is Valletta and officially by UNESCO as World Heritage, as is known to be "one of the most concentrated historic areas in the world. Valletta is a small city with a population of only 6098 and the center of the city is traditionally known as the main administrative district of Malta. There are plenty of hustle and bustle of this city with many cafes and restaurants of many and much quieter, more romantic streets and alleys to explore.
The capital also hosts regular musical and theatrical events and festivals and street performances. With ancient history as much to visit in Malta, from the ancient temples and underground catacombs of St. Paul and St. Agatha. There is also a renowned Archaeological Museum in the city that is home to an extraordinary collection of prehistoric artifacts from Malta. Also along for the Museum Island may be found as the Museum of Roman Antiquities, the Armoury and the Maritime Museum and the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes.
There are plenty of other cultural attractions and towns of Mdina and Rabat are home to a wide range of historical and cultural interest that are unique to Malta. Cities and towns are flooded with Renaissance cathedrals and Baroque palaces. As Malta is a small geographical navigate, it's so easy for travelers to have the best of both worlds, enjoying the interior and the sandy beaches and red. Malta has blue lagoons and even inland sea. The coast is used by surfers and as the weather is not only wonderful all year, but ideal for water sports. The larger beaches are full of cafes during the summer and beach holidays are good well into October.
Shopping is also a big attraction on the island. There are many shopping centers throughout the cities and villages of Malta, although the main area for shopping are in Valletta. Of course, for the less business-minded markets remain an important part of the culture of Malta and are usually at the center of each town and city. Craft shops are also selling different consumption baskets and knitted styles that correspond to the culture of the island. There is also a vibrant nightlife and clubs in Malta with a variety of places, trance, R & B, Salsa bars and alternative rock. For a more relaxed, you can find sports bars, wine bars and clubs for gentlemen. Public service between Malta and the sister island of Gozo is provided by a bus service is a great way for tourists to travel. The bus service is very efficient service and also very cheap, with prices ranging between 40-60C per trip. The longest journey is less than an hour with the average trip of about 25 minutes. It is also possible to rent cars and motorcycles, if a more independent travel is preferred. Not forgetting the white taxi service can pick up passengers anywhere, except bus stops.
For those interested in the kitchen there are some wonderful traditional dishes including Fenkata Malta (rabbit in sauce), this is often considered the national dish. Pork is also popular, such as Kawlata homemade soups, vegetable soup known Malta. With a European feel pan-Arab cultural thread, Malta is a great option for anyone looking for a place that has it all.
