A Special Tip for a Good American Accent for Actors

During the past 11 years teaching American Dialect in Australia, what really struck me as a big mistake that most people in general, which means giving a particular emphasis on "voice."

Most of them even think that the American accent is something that requires a twang to it, something that is very bright and cheerful. Something like Desperate Housewives accent or Tom Cruise and the like. The versions that stress apparently exist, but is a bit hasty to think that is the measure of an American accent.

It is a natural train of thought - we think of an accent and that fits with a tonal quality, a particular record in the field and a character. I'm guilty, even himself. When I do an English accent my mind automatically stops and soft guttural sound deep.

Why this can become a real problem? Simply because it is not true in your case. And not only is not true, now is also not able to resolve your character with a clean slate. It has already typecast. But you can always try to approach her character as a whole and not give the accent of the character before you've even begun. If after doing some work on your character, you realize that the character requires a twangy accent, American nose after a go-signal for you. Go for it. But you know that you came to it from a rounded view.

On the other hand, if you are in the working set with a new accent, here are some tips you should definitely consider:

Lips 1.Tongue and exercise. You should pull the tongue and lips between each shot to help keep your muscles relaxed, because once you start to fatigue, and them, is very difficult to recover.

2. Know what to look for in yourself.are sounds increasingly difficult to navigate in the mouth? Is your tongue getting thick? Are you stumbling with the sounds that were easy before? These signs mean that are carried out. It is advisable to take a break of 5 minutes, if possible, and enjoy something that will make your blood sugar up.

But if you do not, you still have the endless takes because their accent is not as strong. As depletion continues, his accent is likely to continue declining quality. So without a recharge or even the awareness that you need, you are essentially shooting yourself in the foot.

Now, the next issue will be addressed on using the right tone in terms of who your audience is, it depends on what 'version' of the accent you use. The sounds of nature and not forced one of the approaches to teaching that I prefer, but can not read well for some audiences. There are a number of hearings (ironically, not American) who might think the actor's accent is terrible, hardly noticeable at all.

And if you're an actor who works for an American audience, however, would be great. Like you, your audience may have a preconceived notion of what the accent should sound. Therefore, know your audience and their expectations of her accent.
